How can you adjust this itinerary?
- To add Northland: see our North Island in 14 days.
- To finish in Wellington: after Taupō, continue south via Tongariro instead of returning north. See our Tongariro to Wellington route.
- To slow down: drop the Coromandel and spend an extra day in Rotorua or Taupō.
Is a week enough to explore the North Island by RV?
A week covers the central highlights comfortably because the distances between Waitomo, Rotorua, Taupō and the Coromandel are short. What it can’t include is Northland or Wellington, which add several days each. For those, extend to the two-week campervan or motorhome itinerary.
